Being stranded on the side of the road with a dead battery is bad enough, but being adrift on a power boat with no juice is a big difference. A dead battery means no radio, no way to crank the engines and no way to get to the shore. Thats one reason why Gulfwind Marine in Clearwater, Fla., the largest Sea Ray boat dealer in the world, began carrying the Solargizer Battery Maintenance System from PulseTech. Gulfwind has been servicing the marine industry along the West Coast of Florida for 35 years.
As a committed dealer, it understands and delivers what boaters need to be safe on the water while getting the most from their boats. "I offer Solargizer to customers to help them get rid of a nagging maintenance problem," says Scott St. Angelo, Gulfwind Parts and Service Manager. He explains that boats around 33 feet and larger often remain in the water for extended periods of time, running a converter or charger to recharge their batteries continuously. That means every two weeks or sooner, you have to top off the water levels.
Unless you have Solargizer, that is. "Its a young product for us," says Scott, "but the reviews from customers are very good. We have a 630 Sundancer here with nine batteries that we put two or three gallons of water in at a time. The batteries were already seven months old when we installed the Solargizer system, so some sulfation had already occurred. It has almost eliminated the need to add water already."
Scott and his customers have found that Solargizer works wonders in smaller marine applications as well. "A couple of guys in bass boats tried the system out on their trolling batteries," he adds. "They saw a real difference in charge time and battery life. Their batteries are no longer depleted after a full day of being out on the water." Based on current sales and word of mouth, Scott feels it wont be long before more and more people discover that the Solargizer Battery Maintenance System keeps the juice flowing -no matter what type of boat you have.
