| SPINNER II, Model 25 installation in a Ford F-550 |
- Overview
As tight as the Ford pickup bodies are with the 7.3l diesel in the engine compartment there still is space to install a gravity drain Model 25 Spinner II centrifuge.
The 7.3l direct injected engine has an oil supply port as well as an oil return port on the driver's side already there for just this sort of installation. The mounting bracket, which you'll construct yourself, is bolted to the brake master cylinder. The oil supply port on the Model 25 Spinner is on the back facing away from our view in the two pictures below.

- Oil Supply & Return
The oil supply port is on the oil filter head, just above the existing oil filter. Use a hydraulic grade single braid 3/8" ID hose for the oil supply to the Model 25 Spinner and a 1" ID hose for the oil return.
The generic Model 25 installation guide indicates a 22mm , (7/8") inside diameter is the minimum fitting size on the engine's block needed to insure the oil exiting the Spinner doesn't back up the return oil hose into the centrifuge, contacting the turbine and dragging the rotating rpm down severly with resultant loss of centrifugal force and oil cleaning ability. This event is termed "flooding" and a successful installation will never do this.
The oil return port on the 7.3l engine is 1/2" so you'll need a reducer fitting to connect the return hose to the block. This is a restriction at the engine to the oil returning from the Spinner and the returning oil will back up the return hose. Experience has shown the vertical distance the returning oil drops before it reaches this restriction creates enough head pressure to overcome the oil's rise in the return hose, so flooding of the centrifuge does not occur in this installation.

The Results
- You'll be amazed at the amount of wear causing debris the Model 25 catches.
- Remember, this debris past straight thru the existing full flow oil filter before it was caught by the centrifuge.
- Using Amsoil's Extended Drain 15w-40 synthetic diesel engine oil and this Spinner combined with oil analysis delivers HUGE savings to your bottom line.
How so? Down time for oil changes drops drastically. Your truck and driver, continue to do useful work month after month instead of repeatedly bleeding money from your wallet sitting in a quick lube line-up for that now totally unnecessary 3,000 mile oil change.
